The UK Election Explorer (electionexplorer.uk) is run by Field Level Tech Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales with registered number 16126242, whose registered office is at 20 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU. For anything in this policy, contact us at contact@fieldleveltech.org.
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or any other details about you. We do not set cookies, we do not store anything in your browser, and we do not use analytics or advertising tools.
The limited processing that does happen is:
The "My Area" and "Vote Power" pages let you type in a postcode to find your local electoral areas. That lookup is made directly from your browser to postcodes.io, a free open service that turns a postcode into area names. Your postcode is not sent to our servers, is not stored anywhere by us, and is not included in the page's web address, so it will not appear in your history or in links you share. What we receive instead is the name of the electoral areas (for example a ward or constituency), which are public geographic facts, not personal information.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes standard technical information about each request, including your IP address, browser type, and the page requested. We also keep short-lived technical logs so we can find and fix errors. These logs are about requests, not people: we do not use them to identify or profile anyone, and they are automatically deleted on a rolling basis. Cloudflare's own handling of this data is described in the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
The site's typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address as part of that request, as it would for any file downloaded from Google. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts requests for advertising or profiling; see the Google Fonts privacy notes.
UK data protection law (UK GDPR) requires a lawful basis for processing personal data. Ours is legitimate interests: the minimal technical processing described above is necessary to run a working, secure website, and it is limited to what any website needs to function. We deliberately collect nothing beyond that.
Under UK GDPR you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you, including the right to access it, correct it, or have it deleted. Because we do not keep any information about identifiable visitors, in practice there is usually nothing for us to look up. If you believe we hold personal data about you, or you have any question about this policy, email contact@fieldleveltech.org and we will respond.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
The candidates and results shown across the site are public electoral records, sourced primarily from Democracy Club. Standing for public election is a public act; if you are or were a candidate and spot an error in your details, please email us and we will chase a correction upstream.
If the site starts doing anything new with data (for example, adding privacy-friendly visitor counting), we will update this page and change the date at the top before it happens.
